Gong Xi! Gong Xi!
With all that took place during 2011, I feel like the year flew by and I wonder where it went. The “Year of the Rabbit” did prove to be a year of high intensity and good luck for the Club. We introduced a number of new events and activities; an upgraded website, and we managed the Redesign without greatly effecting your enjoyment of your Club. Now it is time to turn our focus toward new promotions, new activities and the commitment to continuous improvement providing new reasons for you and your family to spend time at the Club. And how fitting during the “Year of the Dragon”; a most auspicious year signifying success, happiness, creativity and perhaps a little unexpected excitement. In 2012 the Club will spread its wings and soar to new heights in better serving your needs.
We have just closed the Member Survey and are in the process of compiling the responses. We look forward to using the valuable information to guide us in better serving your needs for the coming year. I would like to thank everyone who participated and apologize to those who felt the survey was a little too long. I promise our intentions were nothing but for the best of the Club but we will heed your advice and find areas to shorten the survey next year. The submission of the survey responses are perfect timing to assist us with our business planning that is just commencing for the 2012/13 fiscal year. The overall results and comments from the survey are very supportive and most helpful in identifying priorities in which to focus our efforts. The feedback reached a wide range of topics and was both complimentary and constructive, but I would like to point out two recurring constructive comments upon which I wish to seek your assistance. These two residual issues being the need to better enforce the Club rules; such as the restricted use of mobile phones and better monitoring the behavior of children in the common areas. We will also use the survey in conjunction with the direction from the Board to solving longer term challenges such as addressing the locker rooms, how to make Napa Grille a viable part of the Club and to alleviate the problem of insufficient parking.
I would like to comment on one of the questions from the survey regarding the Club s ability to be an active part of the community. We received some great comments on this important question, because if we aspire to ACC being your “Home Away from Home”, then it is essential that we are able to create a “Sense of Community” amongst our Members. In the simplest definition, a Club is “a group of people who share common interests and/or common goals”. And to be successful in creating a “Sense of Community” within the ACC, we must create an environment where you have a sense of belonging, connectivity, and interaction to bring Members together. Creating a community within the Club and being a part of the Taipei International Community are the Club s civic duties in serving the needs of our Members and bringing them closer together. We look forward to finding ways to meet this challenge in the years to come and strengthen our commitment to a establishing a truly “International” standard.
An immediate way to bring the ACC community together will be celebrating the Chinese New Year together. We have prepared a very special feast of traditional dishes at the Club s Reunion Dinner on Sunday 22 January; or if you are having a party at home, order from our wonderful selections of traditional Chinese New Year delicacies for take-away. The order forms for all of these traditional specialties can be found on our website, as well as being emailed with our weekly newsletter or you can request a form at the ACC Market. And once you have had a chance to visit relatives and family during the Chinese New Year Holiday, the Club will be paving the way for a good year with the traditional “Lion Dance” on the 6th day of Chinese New Year, 28 February at 12 noon.
Immediately after the CNY celebrations, the Club will be organizing a party to enjoy the grand finale of American football……”The Super Bowl” on February 6th. The morning will be hosted by fellow sports enthusiast Jim Clark and Brently Cooper where we can find out which of our Members really know their football facts, while we enjoy the game with plenty of prizes, mimosas, bloody Marys, complete with a hearty “American” style breakfast buffet, and hotdog stand with toppings you would expect at such an “American” event.
We have really seen a lot of changes and improvements over the last year and we assure you that we are committed to further improvements throughout the year to continue to make ACC your “Home Away from Home”!
