The U.S. presidential elections are less than a month away. For those of you who are eligible, I encourage you to vote – it will be the first time in 20 years that the president of the United States will be neither a Bush nor a Clinton. The two camps vying for the presidency could not be more disparate, so every vote counts. Apathy allows no room for criticism. Here at the Club, we are planning some election-related activities, so keep an eye on the events calendar.
The Redesign of the California Room is scheduled for completion Saturday, Nov. 15. Our main ballroom will also be a modern, safe, multi-functional conference facility. We are certain that you will be pleased with the results. Already many Club activities have been scheduled, most notably the Holiday Ball (Dec. 6) and other holiday-related activities through New Year. It is not too early to consider making a reservation.
The ACC Board of Governors (BOG) is sponsoring two more Constitutional forums in November. We need your support to vote for passage of this revised document. It has been posted on the bulletin board by the ACC Market, and can also be accessed via the ACC web site. Again, we need two-thirds (2/3) of a quorum of Club Members (51 percent) to pass the new ACC Constitution during the November BOG elections.
Speaking of the elections, the ACC BOG has been performing in a responsible, considered and efficient manner on behalf of you, the Members. Please understand that serving involves a major commitment. Club management issues cannot be put on cruise control; they are addressed by the synergy of the BOG and management. It is important, therefore, that you get to know the candidates and vote next month. This is our Club, and we need your support to continue our tradition of strong, capable governance.
