Special Call for an Extraordinary General Meeting (Expired)

Dear Members,
I believe that all Members are aware that the Club was in the process of revising the constitution during the last Annual General Meeting and more recently the decision to raise the monthly dues effective 1 April, 2014. Despite receiving over ¾ approval from the over half the Members, we were unable to achieve the necessary physical presence required for ratifying such a significant decision.
One of the amendments of the proposed revised constitution requires Members to approve changes to dues, joining fees and bonds. Therefore, to avoid any issue arising from carrying out a dues increase during this transitional period, the Board has decided that it would be best to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Members on Saturday, 26 April, 2014 to obtain Member approval of both the proposed revised constitution as well as the proposed dues increase.

In order to approve the proposed revised constitution, we will require a physical presence of Members at the EGM with a ¾ majority of the quorum; the dues increase will require a simple majority approval. It is extremely important that Members commit to participating in this Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) in order to meet the requirements to approve the proposed revised constitution so Members are kindly requested to mark Saturday, 26 April on their calendars. Please note that the proposed revised constitution is posted on the Member notice board and both the proposed revised constitution and the Q&A regarding the proposed dues increase can be found on the Club’s website.
To remind everyone of this important EGM, you will receive an official notice of the meeting in the next few days as well as numerous calls and letters from the Club.
The Board seeks your kind support on this important matter and we look forward to meeting you at the EGM.
The meeting will continue till a quorum is achieved.
It is essential that you are able to come personally to the Club on this day to submit your ballot as that is a regulatory requirement. Otherwise, the Club will be forced to incur the cost and time to reschedule the meeting for the following month.
