Summary of Presentation

Testamentary Trusts, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs), Foreign Grantor Trusts, Qualified Domestic Trusts….. You may have heard of these terms or read about many types of trusts. Your financial planners or private bankers may have talked to you about setting up trusts. Your friends may have mentioned that they have structured trusts for themselves and their children.

What is a trust? What are the purposes of setting up a trust? Do you need one? What are your obligations as trustee of a trust? Do you, as a trust beneficiary, have the right to obtain information concerning assets in the trust? Come and participate in a discussion about trusts, how they are used in U.S. estate planning, the responsibilities of trustees and the rights of beneficiaries. Fabiola M. Suwanto is a partner at Perkins Coie LLP and practices International Estate Planning. She will present basic information about several trusts, their uses for succession planning and tax savings and issues to consider when dealing with trusts. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
