Artist Bio

I’m Alex Kuo, and I’m from Taipei Taiwan.

There are many rivers and mountains in this country where different natural sceneries can be seen.

This kind of living environment is quite suitable for me to paint creatively, especially preserving the Taiwanese culture.

Naturally the environment influenced the way I create. I like the idea of incorporating Chinese ink into my quick sketches as it allows me to be more expressive in Asian (Chinese) forms.

I started painting (drawing) on and off at the age of 18 without any clear direction.

Since 7 years ago, I started experimenting with quick sketches which allowed me to document the traveling experiences. Through this experience, I was lucky enough to have met and made friends in many places. Thus, opened up my horizon.

I am constantly directing myself to alleys of Taiwan and other countries, trying to document and observing other people’s lives with my eyes and through sketches. When I’m not traveling outside the country, I often like to document the city where I live in by painting (drawing) the changes in the city along with almost extinct architecture.

I wish to show viewers different aspects of different cities from my paintings (drawings) through my travel experience as it would be one of my most valuable and honorable way to give back to the society.

泰北高中美工科畢、東方技術學院美工科畢、世新大學傳播管理系畢、世新大學公廣所碩士。

自詡為「生活手繪記錄者」，擅長城市現場觀察手繪速寫，首位在台北城市街頭教授「城市速寫」繪畫的老師，並於2016年台灣第一位受邀參加義大利MATITE IN VIAGGIO國際速寫聯展。每年自組「旅行速寫團」走出台灣自世界各地旅行速寫，遊走歐亞澳各大洲，並多次在法國、義大利、澳洲等地演講、授課及展覽，透過繪畫的線條與色彩，紀錄旅途中的風光點滴與人文景緻。也期許能將台灣美麗景緻透過畫筆，讓給更多國際藝術家看見台灣。平時積極推廣「旅行速寫」、「枯枝筆速寫」等生活美學課程，引領許多愛好畫畫卻不得其門而入的初學者，走入現場繪畫回歸藝術世界，並鼓勵去紀錄每個人生活點滴，培養「慢活」的人生。
