Design your own Alupalan Dyeing Cloth Notebook!

Ci Alupalan Dyeing is a traditional Dyeing technique of the Amis in Hualian, Taiwan. Their historic name ‘Ci Alupalan’ is from the Amis name ‘Alupal’ meaning persimmon tree, of which there was an abundance in the area. Originally, persimmons were considered solely as a food source.  A dyeing technique was then developed to enhance the tribe’s unique clothing style and characteristics.

Ci Alupalan Dyeing has further enhanced the persimmon dyeing technology with a wider palette of colors for ceremonial/festive clothing, household items etc.
